So now I'm in Minneapolis. Pretty much settled. I've got a little part time job. The cats seem to be adjusting. I've been "training" to run around a lake here. It's about 3.2 miles around and I want to be able to make it around non-stop by April. I've been going to the "it's fun to be at the" YMCA. It's getting there, but I'm still a long way off from being ready. I'm hopefully going to be going to school in the fall. Which will be very nice.

Anywho.

i'm heading west for minneapolis. i quit my job (the straw broke this camel's back).
i'm excited to be going, but i'm leaving my best friend behind.

i've got to get ready for lots of snow and cold.

what's really funny to me today is that i had to fire - not 1 - not 2 - but 3 people for stealing. that was last week. so I get a phone call today that one of them as used me as a refernce to get a new job. and they wanted to know what I had to say about him. Now according to Michigan law there's really not so much that I can say. but it was funny nonetheless.

one guy admitted to stealing about $5,500 in cash, the second to $10,000+, and the other just stopped showing up and I think she was the biggest offender of them all. funny funny stuff. I also have at least one other person that's stealing but we still have to get more evidence on her. and the security team suppects that there is another person I should look at as well.

I got an "anonymous" letter today too, that my assistant mgr. is a pot smoking hippie - which is fine - except that mr. anonymous says he's using the store's money to fund his habbits. good times for me.

in other news in the grand scheme of things - today was actually been a pretty quiet day. Not a whole lot going on - it hasn't been terribly busy and for my store that's saying a lot. Usually we see about 600 people a day. There were no jobs for me to work on, etc. But today has got to be one of the worst days ever. If one more team member comes in here and starts yacking at me about some idiotic something or other I'm going to go off. One guy wanted to know where our calendar templates were - I said we don't have any but I could print some if the customer wanted to see them. He didn't understand what I was talking about. I said it's just like making b/w copies. I open up the digital file - send it to print - and there you are. He still didn't understand. My tech guy was trying to fix some stuff and as usually left a bunch of other stuff all broken. he looks like coolio, but much more ghetto. he knows nothing about computers. he reinstalled one of my computers the other day because the disk drive wasn't working. hello - it's a hardware problem. so he doesn't finish correctly doing it and I can't access any of the files and the scanner doesn't work, it was a mess. then he messed up the phone lines and unhooks a bunch of stuff and made it so we couldn't use the modems on the registers - which allows us to charge to people's credit cards. someone else has become obsessed with all the cords hanging from the ceiling and is trying to hide them all instead of helping customers. I hired some new people and am realizing are really really really really stupid. One of them is ok - but the other one. She can't read. Literally. She was asking me how to do a refund the other night. so i asked her where the receipt was. Well she didn't have one. She had something else - which clearly said that it wasn't a reciept She tells me that she HAS to do a refund because that's what another guy told her to do. I said we won't give someone money back for something they haven't paid for. She didn't know what I was talking about (keep in mind that this is the girl took $200 in cash the other day to hold onto for a customer and thought that was normal and ok.) I told her that we will not give any type of refund without said receipt. She keeps saying some guy said she has too - now, I'm the boss. the one that can fire her. She needs to do what I say and not argue with me. So I show her again on the hold sale what it says and explain to her again what a hold sale is and what it means. She still doesn't get it. We just got new carpet and paint and it was done pretty half-assed. the guys that put carpet in the front of the store messed up the doors so now they won't close. Then claim that they came have tried to come in several times to fix it but "someone" keeps telling them that they couldn't. They never came in. I was there every time they say they tried to come in. Nothing. All of the people that are doing work here have really thick accents and won't let me talk. It's really annoying. They won't let me finish a sentence. I'm going to go off at one of them. They keep calling me sweetie. it's truly a new level of moron that I had to deal with today.

I don't think most of this makes sense. I'm very tired and don't really know what I'm saying. Since getting my own place to run I haven't really been home much. things are getting better, but I'm looking forward to having normal days instead of 12-14 hours. so i'm hoping that soon it will start to settle down.

i think that I really like itunes. i got some free songs from some pop bottles. it was really quick and nice.....

so my head hurts too. i think it's allergies. i need to take something.

josh and i went and had japanese food it was quite tasty. i had ginger pork and josh had teriaky chicken. i know that I spelled it wrong but my brain is mush.

anywho.
i need to sleep now.

surreal update

current temp = 95.2 degrees. which is apparently abnormal. so that can't be good. have turned up heat, but I'm starting to not be able to feel my fingers.

dad still in a bad way. he's been in the hospital the last few days and now he's refusing treatment. they had him on blood thinners and they wanted to give him a spinal tap and possibly some sort of brain tap (?). to rule out or explain what's going on. it may not be a stroke. but it might have. they don't know. so they can't do some of the tests for fear that with the blood thinner he would bleed too much with all the body tapping they want to do. so now he's checked himself out of the hospital because he is sick of being there. he's not able to walk. he's dizzy. i'm scared.

girl @ work that's a spazz died her hair. it was red now it's BLACK. she thought it was a "temporary" dye, but she's never used a temp dye before and doesnt' realize what that really means. I didn't have the heart to tell her that it wasn't going to rinse over the course of the next 6 weeks, like the package said. it never works exactly like the package says.

spent most of my shift today cleaning. typical. tomorrow i get to spend some money, we're short on some supplies.

back to work again after being off @ training for the last week. i'm sick though, so that won't be fun. not super sick or contagious, but my sinus' are killing me and I'm all foggy in the head. just got off the phone with my brother and he's going to come and visit me later this month. so that should be fun. he'll be here over thanksgiving. i'm going to have to do some cleaning and such to get ready.
so, i got a different job sort of. i'm going to be the internal auditor for my district. but i'm not sure what all that means. i know that i get to run around from center to center and meet with the managers to go over how they are doing on whatever it is i'm auditing on. there are so many different audits. my old district manager asked me to do it, but he quit - so i'm not sure what i'll be responsible for. i'm waiting to hear from a different dm to let me know. hopefully it means that i will get to do that full time. that would be fun. all the training i got was to prepare me to run my own place, but i don't really want to do that. i would much rather get to do something on a district level.
so i'm going to try and do some shopping for the holidays. spread out the finances. i don't know what to get people though.
i also want to take a trip. but i don't know where i want to go. we'll see.
so. yup.

WASABI PEAS SNACK

The amount of wasabi in this recipe can be adjusted to make the peas more or less spicy. After coating the dry-roasted peas with the wasabi mixture, the peas will cluster. This gives the snack a nice homemade appearance.

Ingredients:

2 cups dried whole peas

2 tablespoons olive oil

Wasabi Coating

4 teaspoons wasabi powder, or 3 tablespoons wasabi paste (comes in tubes)

2 tablespoons tahini

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Instructions:

Soak the peas in water to cover overnight.

Preheat the oven to 200°. Drain the peas, then cook them according to instructions on the package. Mix the olive oil with the cooked peas until well coated.

Oil a baking sheet and spread the peas evenly across it. Place in the oven and bake for 5 hours, until the peas appear dry and are crisp when bitten into.

Combine the wasabi powder, tahini, rice vinegar and mustard in a mixing bowl.

Combine the wasabi mixture with the hot peas making sure that all the peas are evenly coated.

Using a rubber spatula, spread the peas on the baking sheet, separating as many as you can. Increase the oven temperature to 250°. Bake the peas for 10 to 15 minutes, until the coating is dry.

Yields about 4 cups

PER 1/4 CUP: 135 calories, 7 g protein, 19 g carbohydrate, 3 g fat (1 g saturated), 0 cholesterol, 22 mg sodium, 3 g fiber.

let's see bought myself a gameboy sp yesterday. b/c i need more toys. been going on ebay to look for games. I didn't bring my camera to texas. wish i had. i missed it. i want to update my photo blog. so i may have to go out back today to shoot some stuff. lack of toys makes jess a dull girl.

i have a new obsession. celebrity poker on tv. bravo rocks. i even watched the world championship poker something-o-rama on travel while i was done south. makes me want to go to vegas.

i feel sick. flying home this time really kicked my ass. i think i have to work by myself tomorrow night, but i can't be sure. my robot, uh boss, left me a cryptic email about working 2-11 tomorrow. I dunno. i'll just show up and see what happens. texas was good & bad. overall it was the worst week yet, but there were some of the best things that happened to date. also i got "extra" screening on the way home at the airport. fun for me.

leave for texas tomorrow. 5 pm. trying to pack up. have to go to a ROPES course this week. for joy. packing way too many electronics. but i need them. everything has its own cord and power source. hopefully i won't forget any of them. pda, laptop, phone, camera, etc. although don't know why i'm bringing all of it. my sweetie is doing my laundry. :) he's nice that way. i will miss him. and the animals. :(

but burning it to the ground is another matter. one of our neighbots (total Ken & Barbie types) made a comment to the landlord "anonymously" that our lawn was looking scraggly. weeds and such appartently. now, I'll admitt that the lawn was a bit on the long side, but come on - just say something to us. by the time the landlord called us we'd already had the lawn cut.

anyway, glad to be going out of town again. i need to get away from work. all the cool people are leaving. although, the nutter's outta there, just found out today. she's been talking about bringing a gun with her and she's been threatening to sue because she thinks her hours are being cut b/c of her "illness". which is silly - everyone's hours are being cut and the hours they hired her to work - she can't work anyway. her availibility changed. plus, as an added bonus we can't leave her alone - she could have a seizure at any moment. so we couldn't allow her to work the other hours she was hired to work for her safety. so this makes me evil somehow. water under the bridge now. she hated me anyway. apparently i'm a "fucking bitch". makes me feel like crap having to go in there and having someone hate me for no real reason. all i had to do was say hi to her and i was "coming down on her". i thought i was at least ok to work with if not moderately entertaining.

feeling isolated again and a bit distracted in general. i've started a photoblog which is exciting. i got a new (and for the first time) digital camera. so i've been taking pictures. i may start posting some of them, but if anyone's interested you can see some of the stuff i've been doing.

So another week in Dallas has come and gone. Good times. Good stuff. I get really excited to go back to work after being down there. I feel good about my job again and I get motivated to make a difference. Then I have to go back to my boss and battle with him about crap. It's hard to believe he went through the same program. He and I disagree on almost everything. But since he's the boss I have to do what he says.

I can't wait to get my own place. I just hope that I can create an environment that people want to be. We "graduate" in October so we'll see.

Glad to have a day off before having to go into the store again. Quality time with the dog and the laundry machine. Anywho, news @ 11.
